Ciao a tutti! So, I recently got back from a trip to the Amalfi Coast and, of course, I had to buy some limoncello to try! Itβs such a famous liqueur there, but let’s be real, itβs super strong to drink straight. π So, for my latest video, I made it my mission to find the perfect limoncello mixer.
Now normally, limoncello is served either chilled as a digestif or mixed with prosecco or sparkling water as an Amalfi spritz but that wouldn’t be much of an experiment right?
You can watch the full experiment here:
I went to the supermarket and grabbed a bunch of different drinks: beer (Birra Moretti was delicious btw), prosecco, Sprite, and cola. Unfortunately, I forgot to get plastic cups so things got a little… creative. Letβs just say I had to use my mouth as a mixing vessel. π It was a bit messy, but hey, gotta do what you gotta do for research!
What’s the verdict?
- Beer & Limoncello: This combo was surprisingly good! It tasted like a German radler, that beer mixed with lemonade drink. The limoncello erases the bitterness of the beer so it’s perfect if you don’t like that in beer. Highly recommended!
- Prosecco & Limoncello: This one was a no-brainer. Everyone in Italy drinks Aperol Spritz, so I figured prosecco and limoncello would be a winning combination. And I was right! It tasted like a fancy lemonade for adults. Delicious and dangerous! Too bad the Prosecco bottle was room temperature though. π Recommended!
- Sprite & Limoncello: Not a fan. The citrus flavor of the Sprite just completely erased the limoncello flavor. What’s the point? Not recommended.
- Cola & Limoncello: This was another unexpected winner. If you like putting lemon in your cola, you’ll love this. It tastes just like a refreshing cola with a hint of lemon, perfect for a beach day. Just be careful, it’s super easy to drink! Recommended if you like lemon with cola. Actually, if cola feels too sweet for you, this mix works great.
After all that mixing, I was still left with a bit of leftover limoncello… So I ended up starting the next stream with a shot of the remaining limoncello.
Make sure to check out the video of me trying to open a beer with a lighter in Germany to understand how disappointing it is that I couldn’t open it after all that practice. π
