A Late Illumination and Hard Battles

This Sunday’s morning stream didn’t work out this time as I overslept and missed it but I couldn’t think of what to do for some reason…

In the end, I managed to go live and decided to go to the Osaka Castle Illuminations as it’s something we don’t usually get to do.

You can watch the replay here:

Beautiful views

As soon as you walk in, you’ll see bright and beautiful illuminations. It’s a very photogenic spot and I wish I had someone nearby to take a picture for me. There were people but I accidentally scared them away…

I forgot that there were people around me.

Just remember that there’s other people around ok? Otherwise you have to deal with the reality that everyone saw you lick Osaka Castle…

There were a lot of cool characters and areas to take pictures at and a lot of them have to do with Osaka’s history.

My only problem is how many couples there were everywhere!

Hungry Hazu

Sadly I was getting a bit too hungry to enjoy the show.

Luckily a bit later, I found out there were 2 kitchen carts (food trucks). A crêpe truck and a kebab truck that also serves karaage.

I was hungry for ramen to be honest but the community funded my meal so I got kebab and karaage… For the community of course, not for my stomach… 🙄

The kebab/karaage cart had some cute ducks so it was meant to be. 🥰

The kebab was a bit small and it didn’t quite have enough seasoning sadly but it was still a good kebab. It might have been my fault though since I had it without the garlic sauce (no mayonnaise).

The karaage was perfect. Juicy and crispy.

If you add the karaage to the kebab it will be perfect, trust me. The only thing missing was beer.

Sudden emergency

I would have liked to get that crêpe but right after the meal, there was an emergency battle raging within me. Luckily, I survived the battle without getting banned and kept my dignity. ✌

Unfortunately, the battle took too long so the park shut off the illuminations and I didn’t get to play with the see-saws. 😢

This was a perfect opportunity for me to eat my coveted ramen! Sadly the ramen spots were a bit far as most shops were closed by the time the illuminations turned off.

On the way back, someone threw a whole bag of conbini trash in the middle of the street while driving. Who does something like that? 😠

Oh, on the way to the ramen shop, I confirmed that the Sweden trip is cancelled. My grandma is doing ok but I thought I should be within reach if something is happening as she’s 86.

Unfortunately I lost $400 of the flight ticket but life is more important than $400 right?

Ramen time!

By this point, my stomach was cleared so it was safe to have spicy ramen right?

I was debating between curry ramen and chicken paitan but ended up getting chicken paitan shoyu ramen as it was the shop’s specialty. It was delicious and buttery. Plus look at that meat! What’s not to love?

The meat was so tender that it melted in my mouth. It’s too bad the shop used a bit too much detergent to clean the toilets. Otherwise I would have stayed longer as I wasn’t sure I won the previous battle yet.

The ramen was only 1050 yen so not bad at all yeah? I was relieved to exit that shop though. They had a nice crème brûlée but I couldn’t stand the cleaner smell anymore.

Secret ice cream heaven

A crepe tiramisu ice cream from the supermarket.

For Dessert, I of course got ice cream. There was a supermarket nearby so I went with a crêpe tiramisu and a sweet potato ice cream but there were so many ice cream choices there! You could go nuts eating all the types.

Cannelé ice cream, milk ice creams, waffle ice creams… It’s too bad many of them had to be defrosted before eating so I couldn’t try them.

It also had a huge snack section too! Why is my supermarket not like this? Anyway, I’m definitely coming back!

The crêpe ice cream was not quite what I expected because the crêpe’s shell was just frozen so the texture wasn’t that great and the filling wasn’t creamy enough. But that’s because it also needed to be defrosted before eating, I read it but I didn’t read it well…

The sweet potato ice cream was perfect so it saved the whole experience. I’m glad I got two ice creams instead of just one.

Plus, sweet potatoes are vegetables and they don’t have calories. So this was basically a 0 calorie ice cream right? 😏

Join me next time ok?

Did you enjoy the adventure? I’m so glad I streamed despite missing the scheduled stream time. You guys always brighten my day.

I’m always glad when you guys watch the VOD to keep up with the streams but it’s always a lot more fun when you’re here and chatting with me. Especially because I get to learn about what you think about a lot of subjects. As you know, I often don’t have common sense. See you on Wednesday stream 👋
