The Twitch Dictionary

Do you ever get confused by all of the terms on Twitch? I feel there’s a whole other language being spoken there sometimes and the moment you learn one term, there’s 2 more coming out of nowhere.

So in order to keep track, I need to have a Twitch Dictionary.

Terms and emotes

For many of these terms, they started out as emotes and became spoken terms because we the streamers often will say the emote names out loud and it eventually becomes part of our vernacular.

5Head

If you have a forehead (4Head), you’re a normal person. If you have a 5Head, surely you must be really smart right?

7TV

7TV is a tool that allows users to use special emotes on Twitch and YouTube, similar to BTTV and FFZ but it’s newer and has a few more advanced features.

Andy

This is a term used to stereotypically refer to someone that Twitch chat doesn’t wanna bother naming, it’s often used for guests on stream since they don’t always wanna be known by their real names but might not have a Twitch username. They’re usually called (something) Andy like “Camera Andy” for the camera man or “2k andy” to denote guy with 2000 viewers maybe even spent 2,000 dollars on something.

This term originally started as a meme from Ice Poseidon‘s Twitch streams and later became the norm everywhere.

BTTV (Better Twitch TV)

Better TTV (Or Better titty tv as I sometimes call it by accident) is a browser extension for Twitch that adds custom emotes and features. Those emotes can be animated like 7TV and unlike FFZ which was a huge deal before Twitch added animated emotes for streamers.

Cap

Lying or exaggerating. Sometimes shown using the blue cap emoji also. 🧢

Chad

Describes someone confident, successful, or dominant in life. Usually it’s used to describe someone who’s really good with girls.

Clip chimp

It’s usually used to mean someone who clips parts of streams to make the streamer look bad. But it’s also generally used to refer to people who clip everything and send it around for engagement.

Clip it and ship it

It’s a term used during chat when a streamer does something stupid or says something that can be taken out of context

COPIUM

An emote of Pepe inhaling some gas named “copium” from a tank. It’s used to describe denial or coping with something, usually when the streamer says a blatant lie or makes an outrageous self-reassuring statement.

Dono

Short for donation, while I usually use the terms “Tips” or “Gifts”, donos refer to money given to streamers.

EZ

An emote of a pepe in sunglasses that’s just short for “easy,” used when something was not difficult or just when you succeed at something.

F

Originally from Call of Duty Advanced Warfare where players press ‘F’ to honor the dead, it’s used on Twitch to tell the Streamer that the stream is down for whatever reason. Usually because the signal is bad.

FeelsBadMan

An emote of a sad pepe to express sadness or disappointment.

Feelscuteman

An emote of a pepe with his hands on his cheeks that’s used when something cute is said or done.

FFZ (FrankerFaceZ)

Similar to BTTV, FFZ it the original extension for custom emotes and chat enhancements. Because it’s the original one, FFZ does not have animated emotes.

GG

Stands for “Good Game,” used to show sportsmanship after a competitive match.

Gyat

Gyat is a slang term derived from “goddamn” or “Gyatt! Damn!”. It’s what you say out lout when you see a nice ass. So Gen Z has embraced it as the official term to call your ass.

A feature that activates when viewers collectively contribute through bits or subscriptions to reach a new milestone. Each milestone increases the hype level, with unique animations and rewards getting unlocked for the streamer and participants.

Jebaited

Kappa

An emote often used to denote sarcasm at the end of a sentence. It’s usually used when someone is making a statement sarcastically or is plain lying to mess with the streamer.

KEKW

A laughing emote of “the laughing spanish guy”, Juan Joya Borja used when LUL is not funny enough.

KKona

KKona, pronounced Kay-kona, is an emote used to describe Americans. Usually it’s spammed when something is stereotypically American.

The Twitch equivalent of “LOL”. For some reason Twitch decided that the emote should be a different word.

Madge

An emote of an angry pepe that’s used when the viewers are angry about a statement or action by the streamer.

Pog/Poggers

An open faced emote used to express excitement or when something amazing happens.

Raid

When a streamer ends their broadcast, they can choose to send all of the viewers to another streamer’s channel so they can keep watching. This is called a raid and helps viewers discover other channels.

ResidentSleeper

An emote used when viewers are bored or disinterested in what’s happening on stream.

An emote of pepe with an aubergine in his mouth. This is not used that much outside of my community because… It’s funny.

PunOko

A Twitch emote for when you’re angry or displeased with what the streamer is doing.

Shrimp

Another word for simp. For a while the word “simp” was prohibited on Twitch so “shrimp” was used instead.

Simp

A term used to describe a viewer who is a bit too obsessed with the streamer, usually a woman, and will go too far in defending them or helping them out.

Smooth Brain

If you’re smart, your brain has a lot of wrinkles to fit all all the neurons. If you’re stupid… Well, your brain is pretty smooth because it doesn’t need all the wrinkles.

TOS

Stands for “Terms of Service,” often mentioned when someone breaks Twitch rules. It’s usually spammed in chat when a streamer does something that might get them banned.

Viewbotting

Using fake viewers to increase your viewer count. It’s against Twitch rules but they spam everybody’s chat all the time with offers..

Yeet

For some reason Gen Z people yell this when they throw something. I don’t know the origin of it but it’s a common term so now you know it too.

What else?

Are there any other common terms that are confusing to you as a new viewer? Please let me know in the comments so I can add it. I feel I’m still learning after all this time so let’s learn them together!
